Swift Sunrise, Inc. is a U.S.-based 501c3 nonprofit corporation. 

Our directors and officers are each thoughtful and faithful Christians.

THE NAME "SWIFT SUNRISE"

The origin of the phrase comes from the main character in J.R.R. Tolkien's book, "Lord of the Rings," who endures great physical and emotional suffering. He longs for a heavenly place that he once dreamed of -- "the far green country" that "opened before him under a swift sunrise."

Tolkien's story is a beautiful and Biblical reminder of how we groan in our sufferings on earth and long for our Heavenly home (2 Cor. 5:1-5). When our work on earth is done, death still awaits us, but for the Christ-follower, this world is not our home. We are just passing through (John 17:14-16). We long for when Christ returns or calls us home.

In Jaco, our name has taken on a different meaning. Frederick Douglass said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." By the grace of God, there are many wonderful people in Jaco helping care for the downtrodden. We focus on strengthening the youngest generation in Jaco with the hope they will never need these other services. Shining the light of the Gospel in their young lives is intended to give them a "swift sunrise."
